Soren Hathaway (Bjorn)

Soren is one of "those Hathaways". They're from Bellerophon where Magnus & Celia Hathaway reside and entertain on the family's floating estate Andromeda. Soren was an indifferent student at university on Osiris; his interests lay elsewhere, in the proper pursuits of a gentleman – shooting, fencing, safari hunting, securing a career that including both society functions and plenty of free time. Soren entered the bureaucracy as a junior clerk in the Department of Information, licensing various bandwidths of the EM spectrum. He had been with the Department of Information for only a couple years when the Unification War broke out. Amidst a slowly growing cynicism, Soren realized that his boss was one of many corrupt officials profiting tremendously from the war. When Soren stumbled onto the boss’s involvement in a plan to steal a sizeable chunk of the moon Haven, he realized the only way to warn the settlers was to go there personally. So Soren simply demanded to be dealt in on the action and recommended the boss’s yacht as the price of going away. The yacht was the smallest of the several ships his boss owned, and it wasn’t his only yacht. It wasn’t even his better yacht. Soren’s boss wasn’t at all happy, but Soren keeps his word to the boss that in return for the frigate he would not expose his schemes. And the boss continues to portray Soren as a formerly promising protégé who has lost all grip with the practical realities of the ‘Verse..
